Approved by our General Assembly at its meeting in Winterthur the last day of June, the “Ethical Code” of EurEta is now in application.

The Code, was adopted by our members unanimously after a very fruitful and consensual discussion. The code is aiming at regulating the behaviour of the staff and the volunteers who act as representatives of EurEta, as well as that of Eureta’s national and individual members.

In what regards the EurEta staff and volunteers the Code’s key words are Respect, Accuracy and Professionalism. Making it clear that those who work or volunteer for our organisation must be doing this because of their belief in our aims and not for personal enrichment. The Code points out their obligation to always be accurate and uphold the truth. At the same time emphasis is put on their duty to treat all those they are in contact with in a respectful and inclusive way.  Avoiding discriminations and making obvious their commitment to excellency with their  behaviour, even in matters of personal appearance. In sum, the Code demands from EurEta’s staff and volunteers to act with professionalism. Making sure that all those who address them receive an impeccable treatment and truthful advise.

Accuracy Respect and Professionalism

Accuracy Respect and Professionalism are of course ever more present in the Code’s rules applying to national or individual members: the latter are in fact asked to be accurate when presenting their qualifications and to make sure these qualifications are always updated through Continuous Professional Development  (CPD) activities. At the same time, it is asked from them to uphold the truth in their dealings with their clients even if this might not entail good news for both parties. Clients are to be always treated with respect with any kind of discrimination strictly forbidden. Committed by the Code to abstain from activities such as wage dumping or price gauging, EurEta professionals have the duty to act in the best interest of their clients and employers and to try and resolve any potential difference with consensus and dialogue.

Very important innovations for our professionals: when an activity is delegated the responsibility should always remain with the delegator, whilst budget issues are to be discussed before undertaking any remunerated endeavour. Both rules aim at strengthening the trust between EurEta professionals and their clients and employers. The same is in fact the aim of the Code as a whole. At a time when professional training is becoming clearly the way forward for development and a healthy job-market, EurEta is positioning itself dynamically in the centre of evolutions. Not just be certifying the qualifications of its members, but by taking the extra mile to guarantee to their clients an impeccable, ethical and truly professional service!

Combining a client and quality oriented approach with the strong ethical values that are proper to every professional who understands success as the satisfaction after a well-done job rather than in purely lucrative terms, Eureka’s Ethical Code can be found   in our website by clicking on “Ethical Code” under the “About Us” section: https://eureta.org/ethical-code/

We look forward to discussing with you your first impressions and feedback. A set of decisions relevant with the modalities of the Code’s application will be adopted in the coming General Assembly meeting.
