We felt like sharing with you an interesting small article published on line  by Debra Kraft and discussing the technical jobs that are currently in high demand at the other side of the Atlantic. It would be very interesting to have your reaction on similarities at the level of your own countries…

“High-demand technical jobs aren’t limited to those related to information technology, computer programming or software engineering. Plenty of other sectors of the economy have high demand for technical jobs as well, including the heating and cooling and civil engineering professions. Technical jobs in all of these fields are expected to grow at a rapid clip in coming years, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanics and Installers
In the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) industry, mechanics and installers face a bright future. The BLS projects the number of jobs for these workers will grow 34 percent from 2010 to 2020 — well above the national average of 14 percent for all jobs. The increasing complexity of climate control systems, ongoing efforts to improve energy efficiency and more stringent pollution reduction requirements are all factors driving growth in the number of HVAC technical jobs. In addition to companies upgrading and retro-fitting their existing systems, growth in the housing and construction sectors will boost demand for HVAC installation technicians.

Information Technologies: Database Administrators
Database administrators rank second on the list of the best technology jobs, according to U.S. News & World Report. Database administrators make it possible for users to collect, organize and retrieve data. Heightened database security requirements across all industries, along with increased demand for electronic medical records in the health care industry, will drive demand for database administrators. The BLS expects the number of jobs for database administrators to grow 31 percent from 2010 to 2020.

Information Technologies: Software Developers
Software developers rank first on the list of the best technology jobs, U.S. News & World Report says. Growing demand for mobile technologies and the increasing number of electronics products entering the market will drive growth in the number of software developer jobs. Software developers will also find plenty of opportunity in the health care industry, which is becoming increasingly reliant on computers to record patient care, communicate with insurance carriers and process prescriptions. The number of software developer jobs is expected to grow by 30 percent from 2010 to 2020, according to the BLS.
